Arnold Schönberg: Catalogue Raisonné

Christian Meyer

Two volumes, slipcased. A complete overview of Schonberg’s pictorial works, his related writings, and his contemporaries’ comments.

Arnold Schonberg, composer, musical theoretician, teacher, inventor, and mentor of classical modernism in music, was also an accomplished painter. A special significance can be ascribed to his painting, which he used to express tones other than those that could be expressed only in the musical idiom. The emotional intensity of his paintings and drawings impressed his contemporaries such as Kokoschka, Kandinsky, and Max Oppenheimer, and the work remains highly relevant to us today.
